MOLINE, Ill. — Joe McCoy joined the WQAD News 8 team as an intern during the summer of 2022 while still a student. He is now a full time multi-skilled journalist with WQAD after graduating from Augustana College in Rock Island in December with a degree in journalism and economics. He's originally from Chicago and graduated from OPRF High School in 2019.
While in school, Joe worked for Augustana's radio station where he had a weekly sports show, and he interned at WVIK, the Quad Cities NPR Station. As a junior, he studied abroad in Greece where he reported on topics within Athens including refugees seeking asylum from Ukraine.
Joe loves sports, is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and his dream is to be a reporter for ESPN. Outside of work and sports he loves to go skiing, go on hikes, look at shoes and clothes he wishes he could afford and spend quality time with family and friends.
