Meteorologist Andrew Stutzke is no stranger to the Quad Cities region. Having grown up in Sterling, Illinois, just an hour's drive to the east, he is very familiar with the extremes that Mother Nature loves to bring to the Midwest.

As a young child, he was continually fascinated by the weather, especially thunderstorms. Often times he could be found glued to the television watching The Weather Channel. Upon entering high school it was clear what his area of study would be once he started college.

After graduating from Sterling High School in 2004, he attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Illinois where he received his Associate of Science degree in 2010. He then went on to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology in 2016.

During the summer of 2016, Andrew had the opportunity to intern at WHBF-TV CBS 4 in Rock Island, IL. In 2016 he joined WIFR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Rockford, as their weekend meteorologist before joining WQAD in 2018. This is Andrew’s second job in television and he couldn’t be happier to be so close to home again.

He earned the American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation in September of 2021. To earn the CBM designation, broadcasters must hold a degree in Meteorology from an accredited college or university, pass a rigorous written examination, and have their on-air work reviewed to assess technical competence, informational value, explanatory value, and communication skills. Andrew is also a certified drone pilot and enjoys taking NED (News Eight Drone) on flights throughout the Quad Cities region.

In his free time, you can find him listening to the latest Alternative Rock and Indie music, enjoying many of the walking trails in the area with his Golden Retriever named Cooper, storm spotting, and spending time with friends and family.

If you see him out and about feel free to stop and talk weather with him! He never stops tracking it!
