MOLINE, Ill. — Camille Gear joined the WQAD News 8 team in January 2022 as a sports reporter/anchor.

Camille grew up in Franklin, Tennessee, about 30 minutes south of Nashville. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2019, with a degree in journalism and electronic media, and a minor in business administration.

Prior to moving to the Quad Cities, Camille worked as a sports reporter/anchor at WYMT in Hazard, Kentucky. She loved her time in Eastern Kentucky, from covering the University of Kentucky to local high school sports working so close to home was a dream come true.

Camille's passion for sports developed at a young age when an expansion team joined the NHL in the 1998-99 season. She attended the first game of the Nashville Predators’ inaugural season when she was just two years old. Little did she know how much of an impact that game would have on her life, and ultimately her career. Camille's love for sports grew as she did in age, and by the time she was a teenager she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up unlike every other little girl it was not a princess or a doctor—it was a sports reporter.

There is just something so special about sports, maybe it’s the way it brings people together, or maybe it’s the athletes and their incredible stories—but whatever it is, Camille knows covering them is what she was
born to do.

When Camille isn't working you can find her shopping or playing with her dog Millie.

Camille is excited to call the Quad Cities home. If you have a story idea, Camille would love to hear from you. You can connect with her on Facebook and Twitter. You can also send her an email, at Camille.Gear@wqad.com.
